Artisan ice cream shop
One Artisanal ice cream shop born from a heritage and a name.
The Gelateria De Mamio was born in 2016 at 48 b Rue de la République, in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon. Its founder, Richard Ferrari, a child of two cultures, chose to settle in the South of France after rigorous training in the workshops of Reggio Emilia — the discreet capital of artisanal gelato in Emilia-Romagna. Not by chance: because the South of France carries within it the same sunny generosity as northern Italy.
Ten years ago, he opened the doors of his Gelateria De Mamio with only one rule: never cheat on the ingredients. Since then, nothing has changed in this commitment — except the depth of the expertise. Every morning, the laboratory visible from the street bears witness to the seriousness of an artisanal ice cream shop that chooses craftsmanship over output.
The Founder
Richard Ferrari, an artisan trained in the heart of Reggio Emilia.
Mamio — it's the childhood word Richard used to call his grandmother. A woman of the kitchen, of generosity and of passing things down. By giving her name to the shop, Gelateria De Mamio becomes more than an artisanal ice cream shop: it becomes a living tribute, a sweet memory rooted in everyday Provençal life.
Trained in the workshops of Reggio Emilia, Richard learned the balance, the textures, the rigor of gesture that define Italian artisanal gelato. Ten years later, he continues this know-how with the same standards as on the first day: natural ingredients, daily production, zero artifice. Gelateria De Mamio brings Italian excellence to the service of a Provençal sensibility.
Our Commitments
What sets La Gelateria De Mamio apart.
For ten years, Gelateria De Mamio has kept a simple promise: to offer an impeccable artisanal gelato, with no compromise on the quality of the raw ingredients or on the care given to each preparation. Seasonal fruits, carefully selected milks, daily production in our open laboratory — these are the foundations of an artisanal ice cream shop that doesn't cut corners. Open Tuesday to Saturday, at 48 b Rue de la République in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon.
